Quality of Education in Rajasthan
At elementary level, Rajasthan witnessed a huge drop in the number of government school enrollments.
Between the year 2011 and 2014, the enrollment dropped from 119 million to 130 million. Hence, the government decided to raise the numbers of small schools across the districts.
Also, the government prepared a plan to consolidate a few schools and close the schools with negligible enrollments.
The consolidation of schools also enabled the higher efficiency and proper utilization of resources.
Some of the key initiatives by the government to improve the quality of education in Rajasthan are:
Introduced in 2015-16, the ‘Adarsh School’ program ensures that each Gram Panchayat has at least one secondary or senior secondary school within its effective area.
The state government made sure to equip these schools with all the modern facilities and efficient staff.
In 2015-16, the government launched ‘State Initiative for Quality Education’ (SIQE) scheme to enhance learning levels of students studying in standard I to V in all secondary/senior-secondary schools.
As shown in the above table, Rajasthan Government succeeded in compensating the drop in the number of enrollments after launching schemes to reinforce the educational infrastructure of the state.
