Commissionerate of Schools is a Head office under administrative control of Education Department of State Government.
The function of this office is to look after the Development and Management of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
This office has assigned responsibility to control all District Education Offices.
to provide grants to the Government and Grant in Aid Secondary and Higher Secondary schools .
including special institutes conducting inspections and monitoring of the schools.
Commissionerate is an ISO 9001:2008 certified organization with aim of universalization of Secondary .
Higher Secondary Education for all the students with quality education without discrimination transparent administration to.
the teachers and parents continuous development of Education with High Gross Enrolment ratio and less dropout rate.
This office provides good environment to the employee and officers also.
Commissionerate of Schools implements important Secondary and Higher Secondary Educational Schemes.
i.e. Vidjyalaxmi Bond for Girls Karma yogi Training for teachers Vidhyadeep Computer Aided Learning, Scholarship for brilliant .
scholar students and Special Grants provision for development of Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools of the tribal area.

Higher secondary education :

In the state there are total 2455 higher secondary schools which include 1823 higher secondary school with grant and 632 higher secondary schools without grant.
3,84,418 students are studying there. Number of teachers is about 18,281.
Hundred per cent grant is given to non government secondary schools for salary allowance of teachers and staff.
Schools are given maintenance grant also.
Maintenance grant given to schools is on the basis of monthly Rs. 1800 per class for 1 to 5 classes.
monthly Rs. 1500 per class for 6 to 30 classes and monthly Rs. 1000 per class for maintenance grant.

Computer Education .
As decided by the state governments policy all the schools have to provide computer education.
Rs. 4838.78 lac has been give for computer education help to 1544 schools from the year 1998-99 to 2000-2001.
Remaining 4115 schools will covered in the next 10 years.
